Pizza Tour Completed

Yesterday, the Food Writing Project went on a pizza tour given by Scott's Pizza Tours.  Our tour guide was the man himself - Scott - and this fellow knows more about pizza than is probably advisable for the average human being.  He was a great guide, to say the least, and his enthusiasm was infectious.

Here are some stats from our trip.  Students and volunteers will be blogging next weekend about our experience.  Check back here for the updates!

People count:

6 New York Cares volunteers
1 Simon Baruch teacher
5 Simon Baruch students

Pizza Count

Keste Pizzeria - a classic Naples pizzeria. We sampled a mast'nicola ("the first pizza" - lard or olive oil, tons of pecorino romano, basil) and a margherita (what many people think is the first pizza - tomatoes, mozzarella, basil).

John's Pizzera - a classic New York-style coal oven pizzeria.  We sampled the basic pie, red sauce and mozzarrella - no toppings.

Famous Ben's - a classic Sicilian pizzeria.  We had a palermo pizza, which is square and topped with sauce, onions, and breadcrumbs.
